You Can’t Out give God

Discovering God’s Way with Finance.

You are in financial trouble and someone says to you “the way forward is to give” are they crazy?

When you are first told this principle of seed sowing it seems that way. But it is Scriptural. What God wants is for us to put Him first & to trust Him completely.

Here are the Scripture below just some of them. It is clear from Genesis to Revelation that God prospers His people. It is also clear He asks for their obedience. Before the Law is given Abraham is practicing this. That’s one significance of Melchizedek, a character who appears in Genesis from nowhere. We are taught that giving to God is planting a seed which gives a rich harvest. If you are a Christian and crying to God because of the Credit Crunch and financial need please ask God to help you obey in this way. Many are testifying that God keeps His promise.

Deut 8

18 You shall remember the LORD your God, for it is he who gives you power to get wealth, that he may confirm his covenant that he swore to your fathers, as it is this day.

Malachi 3

¹⁰ Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. And thereby put me to the test, says the LORD of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you a blessing until there is no more need.

Genesis 14

19 and blessed be God Most High, who has delivered your enemies into your hand!"And Abram gave him a tenth of everything.

¹⁸ And Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine. (He was priest of God Most High.)

¹⁹ And he blessed him and said, "Blessed be Abram by God Most High, Possessor of heaven and earth;

This is what the Psalmist meant when he said my cup overflows and God prepares a table in the presence of my enemies. By the way David proved it to be true many times over. Christians today are finding it so.

 

^{God is Able In Desperate Situations.}

But Ruth said, “Do not urge me to leave you or to return from following you. For where you go I will go, and where you lodge I will lodge. Your people shall be my people, an Where you die I will die, and there will I be buried. May the LORD do so to me and more also if anything but death parts me from you.”

And when Naomi saw that she was determined to go with her, she said no more.

Sometimes life confronts us with very difficult situations. So it was for Noami and Ruth. In the time of the judges, when there were not yet kings in the nation of Israel. We find this lovely human storyThere was a famine and Ruth her husband and two sons leave their own country to live somewhere they hoped would be better. . Among their enemies in Moab. Clearly they were desperate.

Trouble followed them as often is the case. In their new homeland the sons marry. Then tragedy strikes. Ruth loses not only her husband but death also takes her two sons. At that point not knowing what else to do she decides to return and her

two daughters start off with her. She is concerned she has nothing and wants to give her daughters

in law the opportunity to stay behind. One of her daughters quite reasonably decides to do that. The other one surprises her with the above speech. Wow. Naomi has nothing and no hope to be sure of. But out of nowhere comes this commitment

to her mother in law and

God. It is quite stunning. She was prepared to die before parting with her. It is that complete change of religion that is so stunning. She is willing to leave her home country to care for her mother in law and to serve God even though she has seen nothing but sorrow after sorrow. Somehow she sees the future with more faith than most of us. Her story has sometimes been called Love Song atHarvest.

So how does God’s love work out for her.

The Jewish laws were kind. Yes that’s true compared to those of other nations. Upon return her

mother sent her to the fields to glean. In Jewish law the farmers were commanded to not harvest 100% of the crop but to leave a little for the poor. This was what Ruth collected at harvest time. But see how God guided. They returned in harvest time and Ruth went directly to Boaz field without knowing who he was

. He was a good man and ordered his workers not to harm her but also to leave “hndfuls on purpose”to make gleaning easy. Also Boaz was a kinsman. In jewish law Naomi who had lost her ancestral lands could get them back with kinsman help. Boaz was willing to help. That was a far reaching thing to do because it also obligated Boaz to marry Ruth. He had already fallen in love so was willing to do that. (another nearer kinsman was not but passed it over)

So we see God giving and giving to His committed child not just keeping her alive but giving her an abundant life, her cup overflowed. God was not obligated to help this woman from the enemies of Istael but delighted by Grace to do so. When you see also she is in the royal line from which Christ came you see how God delights to deliver those who have faith in Him.

2 So Naomi returned, and Ruth the Moabite her daughter-in-law with her, who returned from the country of Moab. And they came to Bethlehem at the beginning of barley harvest.

Ruth 2

And Ruth the Moabite said to Naomi, "Let me go to the field and glean among the ears of grain after him in whose sight I shall find favor." And she said to her, "Go, my daughter."

Then Boaz said to Ruth, "Now, listen, my daughter, do not go to glean in another field or leave this one, but keep close to my young women.

And Ruth the Moabite said, "Besides, he said to me, ‘You shall keep close by my young men until they have finished all my harvest.’"

2 And Naomi said to Ruth, her daughter-in-law, "It is good, my daughter, that you go out with his young women, lest in another field you be assaulted."

Ruth 3

He said, "Who are you?" And she answered, "I am Ruth, your servant. Spread your wings over your servant, for you are a redeemer."

Ruth 4

Then Boaz said, "The day you buy the field from the hand of Naomi, you also acquire Ruth the Moabite, the widow of the dead, in order to perpetuate the name of the dead in his inheritance."

Also Ruth the Moabite, the widow of Mahlon, I have bought to be my wife, to perpetuate the name of the dead in his inheritance, that the name of the dead may not be cut off from among his brothers and from the gate of his native place. You are witnesses this day."

So Boaz took Ruth, and she became his wife. And he went in to her, and the LORD gave her conception, and she bore a son.

Ephesians 3

Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think,

according to the power at work within us,

So what conclusion should we draw when we experience trouble especially something so great we have no hope? There are many in that situation with the recession. Is God able for that? Yes indeed. If we commit our life to Him and turn over control to Him we can trust Him to deliver us. Ruth married into the ancestral line from which Christ came. That very that reinforces the continuity. It is the same God. It is the same way of salvation.

I wonder is it possible to make a bank that really serves it’s customers?

I was just listening to a lady speaking on TV and saying your mission in life could be what you hate. We all know of those who have gone through heart breaking trials and have come through them to serve others in some charitable purpose connected with their sorrows.

Do you agree with me that banking as it was is a failure so bad that we need something different. They spend millions telling us in advertising how good they are for us but the moment we are in need they are down on us like a ton of bricks.

They have pushed credit so hard for so that the majority are in hock to them and now are in danger of bankrupcy through their failures. Credit looks good until your income drops in a crisis. Is there not a better way than acting like the servant in the parable.

 

The Parable of the Unforgiving Servant
21    Then Peter came up and said to him, "Lord, how often will my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? As many as seven times?"
22    Jesus said to him, "I do not say to you seven times, but seventy times seven.
23    "Therefore the kingdom of heaven may be compared to a king who wished to settle accounts with his servants.
24    When he began to settle, one was brought to him who owed him ten thousand talents.
25    And since he could not pay, his master ordered him to be sold, with his wife and children and all that he had, and payment to be made.
26    So the servant fell on his knees, imploring him, ‘Have patience with me, and I will pay you everything.’
27    And out of pity for him, the master of that servant released him and forgave him the debt.
28    But when that same servant went out, he found one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred denarii, and seizing him, he began to choke him, saying, ‘Pay what you owe.’
29    So his fellow servant fell down and pleaded with him, ‘Have patience with me, and I will pay you.’
30    He refused and went and put him in prison until he should pay the debt.
31    When his fellow servants saw what had taken place, they were greatly distressed, and they went and reported to their master all that had taken place.
32    Then his master summoned him and said to him, ‘You wicked servant! I forgave you all that debt because you pleaded with me.
33    And should not you have had mercy on your fellow servant, as I had mercy on you?’
34    And in anger his master delivered him to the jailers, until he should pay all his debt.
35    So also my heavenly Father will do to every one of you, if you do not forgive your brother from your heart."

Is that not how the banks of the world are behaving? They invested our money at very high risk without our knowledge on mortgage securities and they have lost it. Governments have bailed them out of bankrupcy for the good of all. Yet they turn to those who owe them money and cannot pay and demand immediate repayment in full. This they do even when they know they are the cause. Their folly has wrecked the economy throwing many out of jobs and causing business failure. I ask is ther not a better way. Surely there must be. I do not know it that is why I write. Perhaps there are others with more loving business ideas. Do not tell me that love and business cannot be married. I do not believe it. Our Master taught this parable for a reason

The Principle of Seed Sowing.

Many pastors in the worldwide churches are now preaching this Scriptural principle that I want to share with you.

It’s quite simple. God has laid it down that we should first sow a seed before we receive full blessing from him. The seed sowing is an act of obedience which demonstrates our faith. Some also say it is necessary so as not to override free will.

We are promised a lot in the Gospel. The cross of Christ brings to us forgiveness and bodily healing and well being and also prosperity.

^{Samuel 22}

And everyone who was in distress, and everyone who was in debt, and everyone who was bitter in soul, gathered to him. And he became captain over them. And there were with him about four hundred men.

David is a type of Christ. Much in his life has teaching value. Here he pictures the Gospel. We live in distressing times when debt is ceasing the innocent. Humanly speaking it is disastrous but God promises a miracle for His people.

Kings 4

She came and told the man of God, and he said, "Go, sell the oil and pay your debts, and you and your sons can live on the rest."

Nehemiah 10

1 And if the peoples of the land bring in goods or any grain on the Sabbath day to sell, we will not buy from them on the Sabbath or on a holy day. And we will forego the crops of the seventh year and the exaction of every debt.

The wonderful story of Elisha working a miracle to pay this faithful woman’s debts emphasizes Gods care for our whole life.

The text in Nehemiah reminds us that the Jewish law incorporated a year of debt cancellation,Jubilee.

Abraham , Isaac, Jacob,Joseph and all the slaves who left Egypt were rich and made so by God.

Exodus 11

Speak now in the hearing of the people, that they ask, every man of his neighbor and every woman of her neighbor, for silver and gold jewelry."

Exodus 12

5 The people of Israel had also done as Moses told them, for they had asked the Egyptians for silver and gold jewelry and for clothing.

6 And the LORD had given the people favor in the sight of the Egyptians, so that they let them have what they asked. Thus they plundered the Egyptians.

Exodus 13

4 And when in time to come your son asks you, ‘What does this mean?’ you shall say to him, ‘By a strong hand the LORD brought us out of Egypt, from the house of slavery.

We are living in a time of financial crisis but God is blessing His people with prosperity as He promised.

The Temple Tax

4 When they came to Capernaum, the collectors of the two-drachma tax went up to Peter and said, "Does your teacher not pay the tax?"

5 He said, "Yes." And when he came into the house, Jesus spoke to him first, saying, "What do you think, Simon? From whom do kings of the earth take toll or tax? From their sons or from others?"

6 And when he said, "From others," Jesus said to him, "Then the sons are free.

7 However, not to give offense to them, go to the sea and cast a hook and take the first fish that comes up, and when you open its mouth you will find a shekel. Take that and give it to them for me and for yourself."

Here Jesus works a miracle to pay the tax He and Peter owed.

God made the patriarchs rich because of their obedience which arose from their faith. They gave a tenth to God in gratitude and witness and God multiplied that many times over.

This truth about seed sowing is transforming the church of God at a time when the economy could devastate it. It is a wonderful discovery that our futures (if we belong to God) are in His hands. God is above our business, our employers, our governments and our economies. His people will prosper because He owns all and keeps His promise to us.

Jeremiah 29

1 For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.

 

Sometimes I am aware that God has maneuvered me to where He wants me. What has this to do with finance? It is this that you need to be in the right place at the right time to prosper. Here is Scripture to back up this statement and help explain how God may help you and build your faith to expect He will get you to the right place in the right time for success. Some times circumstances seem against us. That is acute for many just now so this is not theory it is very practical. In a time when no one has answersto a lot of peoples pain but that old book does.

Genesis 50
0 As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, to bring it about that many people should be kept alive, as they are today.

The story of Joseph is well known even outside churches because of the Musical Joseph’s Amazing Technicolour Dream Coat but here I just want to keep to the text of scripture.(given below)

Joseph was from a large family in olden times. He was his father’s favourite and his brothers were jealous of him. In fact they hated him. One day they saw they had an opportunity to rid themselves of his supervision.(he did not dress in working dress but in Sunday best because of this role) He went out to them where they were attending flocks in a distant field. They decided to kill him. Then the idea was suggested that by selling him into slavery they would gain more from his demise.

He was sold to the owner of a camel train who in turn sold him to an Egyptian nobleman.

We see here already the intervention of God. He could have been killed but is still alive. He was an arrogant youth but circumstances are humbling him. He gets into more trouble when his master’s wife accuses him of rape. He had rejected her advances. He was a good hardworking slave but now finds himself in prison.

He is given an amazing gift. His fellow prisoners have troubling dreams. He is able to interpret them. That interpretation comes true. He had this gift back home but it made him arrogant when he dreamed of great things.

Next there is a turn of events. Pharaoh dreams and that troubles him. No one can tell what they mean but Joseph’s cell mate now restored to favour reports Joseph’s talent.

Joseph is called for and impresses Pharaoh with a clear simple interpretation. He proclaims there will be 7 good years and 7 bad years. Now in an agricultural society that is disaster big time if not handled rightly. Pharaoh takes the bold step of putting Joseph in charge of their survival.

Events unfold as God had revealed to Joseph. Back home his family is in trouble as is every one else. The only place for food is Egypt. His brothers turn up to buy food. They do not recognise the one they sold.

The story is fascinating with human detail but lets cut to the chase. Joseph forgives his brothers and is the means of saving his family.

He is able to forgive his brothers their crime because he sees the hand of God in it all. Be confident that God does go ahead of us, does engineer our circumstances and does act in love towards us. I write for the despairing. The credit crunch and recession have ruined your hope and filled you with fear. That is not the end of the matter. Look to God find His plan and purpose. He is able in this and any event to give you a future and a hope. Read the full story and grasp God in faith.

 

Genesis 45

1    Then Joseph could not control himself before all those who stood by him. He cried, "Make everyone go out from me." So no one stayed with him when Joseph made himself known to his brothers.
    And he wept aloud, so that the Egyptians heard it, and the household of Pharaoh heard it.
    And Joseph said to his brothers, "I am Joseph! Is my father still alive?" But his brothers could not answer him, for they were dismayed at his presence.
    So Joseph said to his brothers, "Come near to me, please." And they came near. And he said, "I am your brother, Joseph, whom you sold into Egypt.
    And now do not be distressed or angry with yourselves because you sold me here, for God sent me before you to preserve life.
    For the famine has been in the land these two years, and there are yet five years in which there will be neither plowing nor harvest.
    And God sent me before you to preserve for you a remnant on earth, and to keep alive for you many survivors.
    So it was not you who sent me here, but God. He has made me a father to Pharaoh, and lord of all his house and ruler over all the land of Egypt.
    Hurry and go up to my father and say to him, ‘Thus says your son Joseph, God has made me lord of all Egypt. Come down to me; do not tarry.
0    You shall dwell in the land of Goshen, and you shall be near me, you and your children and your children’s children, and your flocks, your herds, and all that you have.
1    There I will provide for you, for there are yet five years of famine to come, so that you and your household, and all that you have, do not come to poverty.’
2    And now your eyes see, and the eyes of my brother Benjamin see, that it is my mouth that speaks to you.
3    You must tell my father of all my honor in Egypt, and of all that you have seen. Hurry and bring my father down here."
4    Then he fell upon his brother Benjamin’s neck and wept, and Benjamin wept upon his neck.

 

I didn’t use to believe in MIRACLES until I saw them with my own eyes on TBN and Daystar. I will not be like the High Priests at Jesus Crucifixion. ( I recommend the film The Passion of Christ by Mel Gibson if you don’t know the Scripture. It is visually powerful). Daystar and TBN can be found on most cable networks world wide. It is so different seeing a healing service and things happening in front of your eyes. Most evangelists of this kind have doctors with them to verify the diagnosis and check the subject afterwards. For many years I did not believe that this was real and to my shame I taught others that way to. I look back on my life and I can see the hand of God in mercy. As financial advice I know some will not accept this but I also see that many good people are now desperate.

2 Kings 6: The Axe Head Recovered
    Now the sons of the prophets said to Elisha, "See, the place where we dwell under your charge is too small for us.
    Let us go to the Jordan and each of us get there a log, and let us make a place for us to dwell there." And he answered, "Go."
    Then one of them said, "Be pleased to go with your servants." And he answered, "I will go."
    So he went with them. And when they came to the Jordan, they cut down trees.
    But as one was felling a log, his axe head fell into the water, and he cried out, "Alas, my master! It was borrowed."
    Then the man of God said, "Where did it fall?" When he showed him the place, he cut off a stick and threw it in there and made the iron float.

    And he said, "Take it up." So he reached out his hand and took it.

Is there a case in Scripture where God cancelled the debt of his people? If it is you can believe He will help you. Above is an Old Testament story about Elijah. You will find that Jesus refers to Elijah so there is no room to doubt.

We see here a miracle. I have already said they still happen today. Why would God bother about a lost axe? The answer is it was borrowed. Can God cancel your borrowing. I am not writing to encourage debt. I am speaking here to someone in need. We have built our lives on debt and now many find themselves in serious trouble. Banks have pushed and pushed on credit and have us all in their power. Will God allow His people to perish even though they were foolish. NO NO NO!!

The Widow of Zarephath

    Then the word of the LORD came to him,

    "Arise, go to Zarephath, which belongs to Sidon, and dwell there. Behold, I have commanded a widow there to feed you."
0    So he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, behold, a widow was there gathering sticks. And he called to her and said, "Bring me a little water in a vessel, that I may drink."
1    And as she was going to bring it, he called to her and said, "Bring me a morsel of bread in your hand."
2    And she said, "As the LORD your God lives, I have nothing baked, only a handful of flour in a jar and a little oil in a jug. And now I am gathering a couple of sticks that I may go in and prepare it for myself and my son, that we may eat it and die."
3    And Elijah said to her, "Do not fear; go and do as you have said. But first make me a little cake of it and bring it to me, and afterward make something for yourself and your son.
4    For thus says the LORD, the God of Israel, ‘The jar of flour shall not be spent, and the jug of oil shall not be empty, until the day that the LORD sends rain upon the earth.’"
5    And she went and did as Elijah said. And she and he and her household ate for many days.
6    The jar of flour was not spent, neither did the jug of oil become empty, according to the word of the LORD that he spoke by Elijah.

Here we see God delivering one of his people who had nothing. She was about to eat her last meal in a famine and a prophet arrives and demands she feed him. Obedience is required because it demonstrates our faith. God performs a miracle. Her little is turned into a lot. The prophet is kept alive and so is the widow and her son. Many have trusted this story. It may be taught in Sunday School but we need it now as well. Many have proved that God is the same today as yesterday. In my life I can say God has always looked after me unworthy as I am.

Elijah Raises the Widow’s Son
7    After this the son of the woman, the mistress of the house, became ill. And his illness was so severe that there was no breath left in him.
8    And she said to Elijah, "What have you against me, O man of God? You have come to me to bring my sin to remembrance and to cause the death of my son!"
9    And he said to her, "Give me your son." And he took him from her arms and carried him up into the upper chamber where he lodged, and laid him on his own bed.
0    And he cried to the LORD, "O LORD my God, have you brought calamity even upon the widow with whom I sojourn, by killing her son?"
1    Then he stretched himself upon the child three times and cried to the LORD, "O LORD my God, let this child’s life come into him again."
2    And the LORD listened to the voice of Elijah. And the life of the child came into him again, and he revived.
3    And Elijah took the child and brought him down from the upper chamber into the house and delivered him to his mother. And Elijah said, "See, your son lives."
4    And the woman said to Elijah, "Now I know that you are a man of God, and that the word of the LORD in your mouth is truth."

How glad she must have been years later when God raised her son from the dead by that same prophet. Obedience is not forgotten by God. If you are tempted to take out the supernatural from Scripture consider

Mark 9
And there appeared to them Elijah with Moses, and they were talking with Jesus.

Luke 4
7 And there were many lepers in Israel in the time of the prophet Elisha, and none of them was cleansed, but only Naaman the Syrian."

Elisha is the successor to Elijah so clearly Jesus believed this story.

Actually you will not have much  left of the Bible or Christianity  if you do take out the miraculous. This is not the place for a complicated defense. Here I just want to help the desperate.

Let me give hope to you. Allow me to throw you a life raft in your ship wreck. God is supernaturally helping those who ask Him. Believe it and He will help you.

Many good people are desperate. This is not preaching just sharing. I too have been hurt by the credit crunch. I have found practical help from a surprising source.

God is our Provider. That is a name of God, Jehovah Jirah. This name is in the Bible. It is a Hebrew word.  I will quote the text first then give some comments. Don’t be too quick to push this aside as irrelevant. It works.

Genesis 22.1

Some time later God tested Abraham.He said to him,”Abraham!”

“Here I am”, he replied.

Then God said, “Take your son, your only son , whom you love-Isaac. Sacrifice him as a burnt offering.”

Isaac said “Where is the lamb for a burnt offering?”

Abraham answered “ God Himself will provide the Lamb for the burnt offering”. He called the mountain Jehovah Jireh.

 

Hebrews 11.17

“By faith Abraham, when God tested him, offered Isaac as a sacrifice. He who had embraced the promises…. reasoned that God could even raise the dead, and so in a manner of speaking he did receive Isaac back from death.”

I find this such a comfort just now. God loves us enough to be our provider. He calls to us and if we have faith in Him he will lead us as a shepherd. There will be testing but it is to build our faith and purify our character. This story in the bible pictures Jesus who actually was sacrificed for us and rose again from the dead. He is the Lamb God provides for us. Now the wonderful discovery I am making is that the death of Jesus has purchased for me not only forgiveness for my sins but healing for my body and prosperity as well. Gods children can rejoice in Jehovah Jireh. God has covenanted to look after them in all things. Calvary is a legal deed which says my sins are forgiven and that God will heal all my diseases and provide my financial needs if I live by faith in Him.

So here is hope. God has through the ages rescued and helped many and He is still doing it now. Open your heart in your distress to Jesus Christ your Shepherd.

Genesis 26 .1

“Now there was a famine in the land- besides the previous famine in Abraham’s time-and Isaac went to Abimelek king of the Philistines in Gerar. The Lord appeared to Isaac and said, “do Not go down to Egypt, live in the land where I tell you to live. Stay in this land for a while, and I will be with you and will bless you.

Isaac planted crops in that land and the same year reaped a hundred fold, because the Lord blessed him. The Man became rich and his wealth continued to grow until he became very wealthy. He had so many flocks and herds and servants that the Philistines envied him.”

How have you fared in the worst economic crisis known in most of our life times. Banks failed and insurance companies too. This shaking of the system caused the housing market to collapse and the stock market to slide. Even economies failed. Fortunately it was just a few smaller economies that were in serious trouble. The Governments of the world acted quickly so the fabric of our society is intact at least for now.

The real problem is the individual tragedies. People have lost their businesses or their jobs and their homes. Many thousands are in terrible financial trouble due to no fault of their own. Those who caused the credit crunch have mostly escaped scot free.

Is there any hope? Debt is a terrible thing. Often the end comes quickly and victims are helpless. In the middle ages debtors were thrown into prison and left to rot. Little has changed. I mean that. The banks demand from those that have lost their income that they immediately repay the full amount. Where is the sense in that. Most people will actually pay what they owe if they can. The point is now many cannot. If they cannot afford the repayments they most pay all. That is not helpful. It is not just either because the banks have themselves been rescued. They should do unto others as they would like those to do to them. Remember Jesus told a story about a servant who was forgiven by his master a large debt he could not pay. They have not taken directly but have indirectly. Governments have pumped billions into the banking system. Banks depend on one another to function. Money has to flow through the complex system or every thing comes to a standstill. Why then are banks being hard on their clients.

Surely they can be more creative with clients who had a faultless record until the crisis came. Handing the debt over to debt collectors is not right. That makes their future very very difficult. If they have nothing all that is achieved is extra cost and more loss for the bank and tax payer. We even hear of banks who are bulldozing brand new houses. Is businesses now bankrupt of creativity? Islamic banks have at least a better philosophy in theory. Because they believe interest is wrong they have developed an approach to share both reward and risk. I do not know how they treat customers who are in difficulty but this idea should stimulate creativity. If customers are helped to prosper then the bank will prosper. They say in their adverts they care now is the acid test!!!!

For these people is there no hope ? Yes Yes Yes.

So why have I started with a Bible quotation? Not to preach that’s for sure but to share. Scripture records events in order to teach us. We see Isaac prospering in famine because he is depending on God. In famine he should have died but his crops were bigger and his herds grew. Why? because God cares and uses these events to turn us to Him. I want to add clarification in further posts.Here I just want to give hope to someone desperate. Financial disaster is an aweful experience but it is not the end. The prophet Jeremiah draws us the picture of God as a potter creating a pot on the wheel and the pottery furnace. If the pot is not working out well he will remake it. We have a loving God who can remake us.
